Platform Guidance
Our Mission
CycleClimbsUK is an amateur app. Created by cyclists around full time jobs. We wanted to provide and easy to use app to allow cyclists in the UK find worth while hills to climb. We want you to go home with a story to tell. Next to be added to the app is a rating system. All users will be able to rate each climb on many aspects.
Found a New Climb?
If you have found a climb and you think it is worth the trip for other athletes to visit from all corners of the UK please drop me an email at admin@simtech.site. Please include why you think your climb is good and mention its difficulty in terms of gradients and length. Is it scenic, or a hidden away gem? Please also include a link to the Strava segment. You may see your climb in the list next time you log on!
Syncing your Efforts
To see your climb times, connect your account via the button on the homepage. Our system securely scans your public activity history to identify efforts matching the iconic segments in our database.
Privacy & Data Visibility
If a time shows as '--', it usually means you haven't completed that specific segment, or your Strava activity privacy is set to 'Only You'. For the validation engine to see your times, activities should be visible to 'Everyone' or 'Followers'.
Background Processing
We are extemely greatful to Strava for sharing data through their API. Data syncing is not instantaneous. Our background 'Robot' processes updates in cycles to ensure platform stability. Finished a ride with a climb? Syncing a new ride should be fairly instantaneos, however bare in mind if you uploaded suring a busy, sunny, saturday, it will take longer. New user? Please allow up to 24 hours for all your climbs to be analysed. We must respect Strava's servers and we will not be responsible for a server crash.
Account Control
You remain in full control of your data. You can disconnect your account or revoke permissions at any time via the Strava Settings page. You can also disconnect from Strava here in the "My Account" page and delete your CycleClimbsUK account with just one click.
